3,726 metres. The true summit. The highest point on Lombok. Two days to reach it. One sunrise you will never forget.
Day by day
Sembalun to base camp
07:00 — Pick-up from your hotel. The drive crosses Lombok's green interior — rice paddies, tobacco fields, quiet villages.
09:00 — Registration at Sembalun park gate. Meet your guide and porters. Gear check.
09:30 — The trek begins. Open savanna, the mountain ahead. The trail rises gradually through grasslands.
12:00 — Lunch at Pos 2. The forest thins. Views begin to open.
15:00 — Arrive at Sembalun Crater Rim (2,641m). Camp is set on the edge. The caldera drops away below — Segara Anak Lake glows in the late light.
18:00 — Dinner. Early to bed. The summit push starts before dawn.
The summit at 3,726m
02:00 — Wake up. Hot tea, cold air. Headlamps on.
02:30 — The summit push begins. Three hours of steep, loose volcanic scree. The trail is narrow. The air is thin. You climb in the dark, following the light ahead of you.
05:30 — The summit. 3,726 metres. The sun breaks the horizon. The shadow of Rinjani stretches west across the island. Bali's Agung rises from the sea. Below you, the crater lake catches the first light. You stand at the highest point on Lombok.
06:30 — Begin descent. Back to camp for breakfast.
08:30 — Pack up. Full descent to Sembalun gate.
14:00 — Arrive at the gate. Transfer back to your hotel or next destination. Drop-off included.

The summit push is the real test. Three hours of steep volcanic scree in the dark, starting at 2am. The air thins above 3,000 metres. Cold wind at the top. No technical climbing — just endurance and will. If you exercise regularly and can hike uphill for six hours, you are ready. The guides set the pace. They have done this over 500 times.
